And here's my version of 2009!
May
1. A business card for Paris Texas.
2. A little rock with eyes painted on it.....no, seriously :).
I did actually put that business card to use. My hair went from below waist length to just below my ears! My poor rock still does not have a name....
June
This month I was definitely distracted by our Pride Month shenanigans. I had rainbow nail polish on my desk and I was listening to Rufus Wainwright, Queen and "Don't Rain on My Parade"!! It's possible I might have got a little caught up in our theme :).
July
Or as I like to call it, Travel Month. I was listening to "Star Spangled Banner" by Sufjan Stevens and had my passport, tickets and guide books cluttering up my desk in preparation for a trip to Washington DC and NYC. Okay, now all this reminiscing is making me want to go back!
August to November
Apparently, I barely listened to music (but what I did listen to was good! I still have "Ces Soirees La" ny Yannick on rotation) and my desk was a distraction-free zone. Uh huh. I think is was probably more a case of, I ended up being too distracted to actually post anything! Creating that post for Talk Like a Pirate Day, for example? Very distracting. Who knew there were so many people prepared to Pirate talk for a day??
Procrastination, thy name is Quill.
December
I break out the Christmas music as early as is decent. By this I mean right on the dot of the first of December. "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" is one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs and Jack Johnson's version of Rudolph is brilliant.
I still have not conquered Traveline (the UK's transport website) but I will not be defeated! I'm going to figure public transport out in the UK if it kills me.
And that's it from me for the year! A very Happy New Year to all and we'll see you in January!
later,
Quill

Quill and Me 2009: The Music and Distractions by Me
Hey guys,
To celebrate the end of 2009 (our first year of blogging), Quill and Me, revisited Three Distractions On My Desk and our Currently Listening To posts. Both of which have repeatedly stopped us from blogging!
We hope you enjoy this selection from both.
May 2009
1 - Unreadable notes from a Quill and Me meeting.
2 - Apparently during the month of May I did not listen to any music. *scratches head*
Btw I still produce unreadable meeting notes.
June 2009
1 - It’s 5 o’clock Somewhere by Colleen Mullaney.
2- I Never Promised You a Rose Garden (club mix).
Ah, yes, my one and only (but, most fabulous) cocktail book which I am happy to report is still distracting me.
Omg! This was and still is one of my fav. music discoveries of 2009! A club version of I Never Promised You A Rose Garden.
‘So smile for a while and let’s be jolly
Love shouldn't be so melancholy
Come along enjoy the good times while we can …’
July 2009
1 - Going Underground by The Jam.
2 - Where the City Meets the Sea by The Getaway Plan.
3 - Born To Run by Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
4 - Stay With Me by Erasure.
5 - Tainted Love by Soft Cell.
6 - Drops of Jupiter by Train.
Apparently, this was a very musical month. :D
August 2009
1 - Magic 8 Ball.
2 - Anti wrinkle cream (sample).
3 - Prelude 12/21 by AFI.
Lol, this ball was a bust, but it did manage to answer one very important question: ‘Will you ever work?’ Answer: ‘Don’t count on it.” Yep, that summed it up perfectly!
This sample so did not work.
Prelude 12/21 by AFI still love this song.
September 2009
1 - Mad World by Adam Lambert.
2 - Paparazzi by Lady Gaga.
3 - Feeling Good by Muse.
4 - Permanent by David Cook.
Lots of music, but no distractions on my desk. *puzzled*
October
Apparently, I was not distracted by anything musical and by desk was a distraction free zone.
Btw if you believe that, you’ll believe anything. :D
November
1 - A piece of jigsaw.
2 – Let The Music Play by Shannon.
That piece of jigsaw is still on my desk because I know as soon as I throw it away I will need it.
This song must have some kind of subliminal message because no matter where I am or what I’m doing I have to dance!
December 28, 2009
1 - A cold turkey sandwich.
2 – A glass of wine.
3 - It Ends Tonight by The All American Rejects.
4 - Romeo & Juliet by The Killers.
5 - Romeo & Juliet by Dire Straits.
6 - Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division.
7 - Feeling Good by Muse.
8 - All I want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey.
9 - Breathe by Alexi Murdoch.
Party!
Well, that's my last post for 2009. Hope to see you all again in 2010!
Btw before signing off I’d like to add something:
HAPPY NEW YEAR,
FROM QUILL AND ME.

Three Distractions on my Desk
It's been awhile since I've done one of these! The problem right now is that my desk is in a state of organized chaos. Which is really just the code phrase for "it's a ginormous mess". So, maybe I'll do Three Distractions on my Desktop instead :).
1. The Muppets Studio on YouTube. It's the Muppets! Doing Bohemian Rhapsody! Really requires no further explanation, does it?
2. Peter Funch's amazing work at V1 Gallery. I keep going back to look over the photos and finding things I've missed every time.
3. Traveline. Possibly the most edifying and frustrating website I have ever come across. It took me hours to figure out how to get from A to B a couple of nights ago. Because, you know, Traveline says you have to go through C even though B is closer to A then C is and just ARRGGHHH. I will conquer this one day!
