Okay, there's no way I can keep up the pirate talk :). Welcome to Talk Like a Pirate Day at Quill and Me! It also happens to be Worldwide Spin in Public Day (as in, with a spinning wheel, not random twirling. Though that could be kind of fun. Then we could have Talk Like a Spinning Pirate Day!)
I've talked like a pirate twice, briefly, and had a brief turn at a spinning wheel in my wayward youth. I learned that I can keep neither up long enough to become proficient but I can always pretend ;).
Simple, yes, but the beauty of this tee lies in it's ambiguity - random twirling or spinning wheel. You decide.
Now, this one, it's so ethereal. It reminds me of a fairy tale and I can play pretend. Can't you just see yourself dressed in something gorgeous spinning silken threads? Preferably with no wicked witch or Rumplestiltskin around!
How quickly I can go from the beautiful to the slightly loopy! It's funny, though, right? Okay, maybe only to those of us who share a running joke at work about eyes and sporks :D.
This tee has a great design. It's positioned perfectly, the design is easy to see and read and the colors are complimentary. Who am I kidding? I chose it because I immediately got "shake, shake, shake. Shake, shake, shake. Shake your booty" stuck in my head!! And it's a great design :).
'Til next time, me hearties!

Mary V Flynn Trail Stamp
Our first stamp! I have to admit that making it was a bit of a fluke. I'd lost my working copy, couldn't finagle it to a larger size and the stamp was all that it fit on! Still, I think it turned out okay :).
The picture on the stamp is actually of the Goodrich Memorial Bridge which is at the end of Park Street in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. I took the photo a little over a year ago on an exploratory morning walk. The Bridge is at the entrance to the Mary V Flynn walking trail - a nice easy loop of about a mile or so that meanders along the river. It's a beautiful walk; just beware of the mosquitoes if you head there in summer!

A New Direction
We love our books here at Quill and Me but the time has come for us to move in a new direction.
When we launched Quill and Me we were hoping to encompass our love of books and the many design ideas we had running around our heads - one through this blog and the other through our design stores. Unfortunately, that split has meant that we could not focus as much as would like to on either one of those things and after much discussion, we have decided to move forward with the design element of our journey.
That doesn't mean that we will be giving up the blog! But it does mean that you will be seeing a few changes around here. We'll be moving away from the book oriented posts to posts dealing more with our design process and the designs themselves. We will, of course, continue to have those random, out-of-blue posts, too, Quill and Me are notorious for not being able to stay on topic :D.
Thank you for sticking with us on our little journey into books and we look forward to hearing from you as we head off down this new road!
